Privacy

You can read and search the archive without an account. This page explains what we store when you do sign up, and why. We don't run advertising or third-party analytics trackers.

Your account

Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth, with an email and password or your Google account. We store your email address and sign-in records so you can log in.

What we keep for you

  • Bookmarks, followed authors, reading progress and research notes, so they sync across your devices.
  • Your onboarding choices (interests, languages, journals) to personalise your picks. These are private: only you can read them.
  • Your public profile, if you create one. Everything you put on it, including any contact links, is visible to others unless you make the profile private.
  • Reports and corrections you submit about an article, so editors can review them.
  • Your reading lists. Private lists are visible only to you; public lists can be read by anyone with the link.

The AI guide

When you ask the AI guide a question, your question and the article's details are sent to our AI provider (Sarvam AI) to write the answer. To keep usage fair, we record that you asked a question, for which article and when, but not the question itself.

On your device

We use your browser's storage for small conveniences: a random identifier attached to reports you submit, and your preferred citation style. If you install the app, pages you open are saved on your device so you can read them offline. Clearing your browser data removes all of this.

Deleting your data

Deleting your account removes your account and everything linked to it: bookmarks, follows, reading history, reading lists, preferences and your profile.
